Description: This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully handle the tasks, duties and responsibilities of an entry-level security analyst working in a Security Operations Center (SOC). Topics covered include operating systems and network infrastructure, network and endpoint attacks, cryptography, monitoring and analysis and incident response.

Prerequisites: CNT 115 . CNT 220 .
Corequisites: None.
Recommended: CIS 178 . CIS 255 . CIS 172 .

  4. Explain the function and operational aspects of network and security infrastructure.

  6. Use network monitoring tools to identify attacks against network protocols and services.
  7. Explain the impacts of cryptography on network security monitoring.
  8. Explain how to investigate endpoint vulnerabilities and attacks.
  9. Analyze network intrusion data, security alerts and digital evidence to verify exploits as part of a cybersecurity investigation.
  10. Apply incident response models to manage network security incidents.
