SPE 115 - Special Educational Programs and Supported Living Credits: 3 Lecture Contact Hours: 3 Description: Students will become familiar with considerations of placement and training of persons with cognitive impairments, emotional impairments, learning impairments and physical disabilities. Attention will be given to the theory and principles of inclusion and appropriate community support. The course will cover the operation and maintenance of supportive living environments. In addition, current laws and regulations regarding licensing, equipping and maintaining the physical plant, staffing, food services, health and social services, budgeting and program development will also be addressed.
Prerequisites: None. Corequisites: SPE 100 or EDUC 200 if not taken previously. ECE 110 or EDUC 110 if not taken previously. Recommended: None.
