PSYCH 259 - Introduction to Sport Psychology Credits: 3 Lecture Contact Hours: 3 Description: Introduction to Sport Psychology is an overview of basic concepts and principles essential to understanding the psychological and behavioral aspects of sport and exercise. Topics covered include the science of sport psychology, youth sports, motivation theory, leadership and coaching, team dynamics and aggression in sports. Students will explore current and future trends in this emerging field and examine the types of career opportunities connected to it.
Prerequisites: PSYCH 201 with a minimum grade of 2.0. Corequisites: None. Recommended: None.
