Associate of Science using Earth and Environmental Science

The Associate of Science using Earth and Environmental Science degree is an interdisciplinary program that provides students with the foundation to pursue a variety of related fields at transfer institutions, as well as offers a set of classes in the major area of study that amplifies the students’ interest and provides a depth of study.

Students enrolled in this program can pursue higher degrees at transfer institutions in disciplines such as atmospheric and climate science, environmental science, geology, and other geosciences, hydrology, geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), geotechnical engineering, oceanography, planetary science, sustainability, urban studies, and more.

Students who satisfactorily complete all college and program requirements qualify for an associate of science degree.

Not all courses are offered each semester. Students should work with an academic advisor to develop a schedule that will work for them.  Number of credits may vary depending on the course selection.

Note: Students are encouraged to identify which courses their transfer institutions require. Students may need to select an additional 5 credit hours in liberal arts courses that satisfy transfer and academic goals to equal a minimum of a 60 credit hours total.

General Education Requirements


Courses taken to satisfy the Major Area of Study and the Additional Degree Distribution requirements may also apply toward Schoolcraft’s General Education requirements.
