Schoolcraft’s Occupational Therapy Assistant program will prepare students to be skilled healthcare practitioners who, under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist (OTR), will address the developmental, physical, and emotional needs of individuals across the lifespan in a variety of practice settings.
This program is built on a stringent curriculum, high-quality clinical and field experiences, and a commitment to student success. It is designed to meet all standards of the Accreditation Council of Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
Completion of this program prepares students to sit for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam. After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). Most states, including Michigan, require licensure in order to practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. This licensure is managed by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).
