The associate degree curriculum is designed to help students hone their music skills and develop their business skills to be successful in building and maintaining a self-managed career in the music industry. Courses in music and in general business subjects provide opportunities for students who are considering starting a career in the music business, as well as for students who are already working in the industry, but want to improve their chance for success.
Program Outcomes
- Model music and music-related abilities associated with a chosen music career
- Adhere to music industry related processes including, but not limited to music licensing, registering, and copyrighting
- Develop marketing strategies to promote oneself as an artist
- Demonstrate communication, record-keeping/documenting, and personal management skills to support business growth in the music industry
- Articulate the viability of music entrepreneurship as a personal career option
- Demonstrate growth in technical music skills and musicianship
- Formulate a plan of action specific to a career in the music industry

Creating Your Academic Plan
