Description:

This course is an analysis of racial and ethnic diversity in the U.S. in relation to evolving social, economic and cultural factors. Various American races, religions and ethnicities are studied with an emphasis on education, politics, and religion. Sociological and psychological concepts and theories will be explored. Immigration (voluntary and forced) to the U.S. will be discussed, cultural competency, the value of diversity, and incidence of hate crimes will be explored.

Prerequisites: None.
Corequisites: None.
Recommended:  SOC 201  or SOC 205
